Emma/Everett
I finished channel back Elsie a few weeks ago and I said that Elsie’s sister channel back, Emma, was coming up. Well, it turns out Emma, deep down, was really Everett. Everett let me know pretty quickly just who he was and how he prefers to make his way in the world. He looks a bit like Elsie, but differs in some really significant ways. He’s the yin to her yang.
When I think of Everett I think black tie and brandy, cognac and Vivaldi, Gatsby and Daisy. You get the picture. He had seen better days before he was purchased at a Habitat Restore for $25.00. Fortunately he had great bones and a solid wood frame. He’s bigger than Elsie and HEAVY, man. (FYI - a piece of furniture that is heavier than it looks is a clue it may have a decent hardwood frame.) He has beefy rolled arms, but refined seat and legs. His upholstery was original, old turquoise, a nubby chenille reminiscent of the 1950s. He’d had no work done since the day he was built.
The first order of business was to refinish Everett's legs. We all need leg work from time to time! His owner desired a darker stain than the honey oak stain he’d worn for years. Then we gave him an 8 way tie in his seat and sprung up his back. Every inch of Everett, aside from his bones is new, from his foam to the 16 deep set buttons in his back, and the new cushion on his seat. Everett’s wearing his fancy pants, smelling sweet, and calling for his cognac, but no smoking in the house, please. The Brass Button Custom Upholstery, LLC.
