Enter Dr. Watson

Beiges, taupes, and browns are back, baby! Introducing Dr. Watson!

I would expect to find a piece like this classic sofa at 221 Baker Street, London. Who lives there? Why, Sherlock Holmes, of course! I called this sofa Dr. Watson because it is tasteful, smart, classic, and restrained. It’s upholstered in a khaki herringbone, F1532, by Greenhouse Fabrics. It’s not Sherlock’s sofa, because Mr. Holmes was known to be a bit of a slob; however, this sofa speaks to the tidy restraint of Holmes’ brilliant sidekick, Dr. Watson. Can’t you just see this sofa in a walnut paneled library? Me, too!

Watson came to me wearing a brown, leaf print, jacquard fabric. Generally, it was in pretty good shape, just beginning to show some wear. The client has had the sofa reupholstered twice before, and was ready for a change; specifically something in the brown family, but lighter. With guidance from their son, an architect, they settled upon Greenhouse Fabrics, F1532, in Khaki. This classic herringbone is a true taupe that can swing either brown or gray depending on what it’s paired with. It’s the perfect neutral. If you’re looking to warm up a room that’s swung just a bit too gray in the last several years consider Greenhouse F1532 in Khaki.

From the double curved arms on the sofa, to its classic pleated skirt, and its knife edge cushions, this sofa whispers classic elegance. This sofa may be accompanied by a hint of sandalwood, a softly chiming clock, and leatherbound books. There is nothing plain about this gorgeous sofa. The client has paired it beautifully with blue. It was a pleasure to work on.
