Introducing Redstone

This nearly new sofa came to me after an unfortunate encounter with an enthusiastic and determined family dog named ๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐๐.

Redstone takes its name from its new fabric by Anna Elisabeth/Greenhouse, F2849, called Redstone. Redstone is the perfect name for this project. Redstone earned its name through the layered micro-stripes in the colors of sandstone, limestone, iron, gray, gold, khaki, burgundy, and sunset so reminiscent of the colorful layered stone you see in parts of the southern US. The colorful fabric gives the owner tons of decorative options, and color is so exciting in a very gray world. Because of the inclusion of its light and dark gray stripes with the reds and the khaki, Redstone nicely connects gray elements in the home with a warmer decorative vibe thatโs on the horizon.
This is a Smith Brothers sofa with a good solid frame. Remember I said it was nearly new? You can imagine the dismay of the owner when Frannie decided to excavate. Weโre not entirely sure what set Frannie off. Maybe she was bored, lonely, or stressed? In the process of upholstering I did find a significant quantity of dead bees behind the back cushions. I wonder if Frannie smelled the bees and was simply doing her best to help? Because everything on this sofa was new, I simply recovered it. I used the existing foam, all the existing fill, and the existing cushions, with the exception of the back cushions. The springs were in pristine condition, as one would expect with a new, quality sofa. The only change I made to Redstoneโs original design was to replace the attached back cushions with unattached cushions. Next time Frannie decides to rearrange things... (๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ต๐ฒ'๐ฑ ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐น๐ฑ ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ธ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ต๐ฒ'๐ ๐ฎ ๐ด๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ผ๐) hopefully the unattached cushions will mitigate the damage a bit. We have extra fabric just in case!
Many retailers use loose fiberfill, or pillow fluff, for back cushions. They look good for a while, but just like fiberfill bed pillows, over time they become flat and shapeless. We opted to replace the pillow fluff in the back cushions with a super soft foam. The foam gives more structure to those back cushions than pillow fluff can, and should hold up a little better.
